Build Notes

Clarissa and I were talking about needing more storage in the garage. Then I saw that Bear Mountain Builds had a garage shelf project, so I just built his design.

First Time with Store-Cut Sheets

This was the first time I had to get OSB from the hardware store and have them cut it because full sheets couldn't fit in my car. I was a little nervous about asking, but it all worked out surprisingly well. They just cut it down to size right there.

The Build

Pretty easy build – mainly 2x4 construction. A lot of frame building, pocket hole joinery, and 2x4 cutting. The most important part was measuring and drilling into the studs in the garage so everything would be secure on the wall.

Finding the studs and making sure the whole thing was level took some patience, but once it was anchored to the wall, it felt rock solid.

The Result

Now it looks really nice and I'm really proud of it. It took less than a day and wasn't very expensive either – just 2x4s and OSB.

Sometimes the simple builds are the most satisfying. We went from cluttered garage floor to organized shelves in a single day.
